Savvy Wellness: Start a Movement

As the holidays and New Year approach, instead of creating a list of goals that you may (or may not) follow through on, I want to encourage you instead to change the way you think about healthy living.
Often the New Year begins with goals to lose weight, eat better, refrain from excessive drinking, and hit the gym more, all in an attempt to start afresh with a healthier mindset. After reading a recent article by a well known New York advertising agency, Strawberry Frog, I was inspired to look at healthy living differently, and start a movement of my own, towards wellness.
Savvy Mani Splurge: Genius Gels

I did not think it could possibly happen. I am unbelievably rough on my hands. I will literally exit the nail salon and immediately knick my newly polished hands. I always say I will be more gentle… but alas… never fails… they break/chip/knick. I have tried silkwraps, acrylics, nail hardeners, quickdrys… everything: most ended up leaving my natural nails brittle or didn't work at all.
Enter GELish Nails. I cannot believe that these things actually work. I am on my second round. The first one lasted over 3 weeks without a chip and remained super shiny.
Savvy Cold-Weather Skincare: Must-Have Mask

We've sung the praises of Somme Institute's fab 5-Step Regimen before--which totally re-habbed our listless skin--and were thrilled for the chance to test drive the latest addition to the savvy Somme family. Now, we love a good mask for a special occasion as a savvy alternative to pricy spa treatments, but Somme's new "Boost" is a truly tasty treat you can use any time your skin is begging for a little oom-pah-pah.
Savvy Ways to Combat Calorie Costly BLTS

We have this sneaky notion at 24/Savvy that if we're standing up and eating something, it doesn't count. Just shove it right in our pie-hole and it's like it never even happened. I mean, it wasn't on a plate, right? No one saw! It's practically calorie-free!
Savvy Sunless Tanning Solution: Luminess

I think we have already discussed that Mama is White-y McWhite-rson.. So I am always on the lookout for a new way to bronze my skin that doesn’t make me look like I just took a bath in carrot juice.
Enter Luminess Tan. I saw a segment on tv that ensures that you get a glowing airbrushed tan that looks natural and amazing. I saved up and BAM… there it was.
Okay… It actually works! I really like the product. After trial & error. I could see how some people would have a train wreck the 1st go around. But don’t be discouraged my pale friends… I will give you the tips that should be included when you buy the system:
How to Drink and Not Get Fat

How to drink and not get fat is a lot easier than you think. In fact, the answer is so simple, you'll wonder why you haven't thought it before: Don't drink so much. Ok, don't get mad. I'm actually serious. Researchers have discovered that unless one is blessed with Herculean powers of resistance, we mortals will eat and drink whatever is placed in front of us. Which means, if you enjoy drinking and are at a party, dinner, or any occasion in which your glass is being refilled (even if YOU are the one refilling it), you're bound to drink more than you intend, taking in a lot of calories and throwing away a lot of dollars along the way.
Kick The Bottle Habit: Savvy Solution for Red Eyes

A certain bummed-out golfer has been appearing so red-eyed in the media lately, I keep wondering why none of his friends have helped him out by tossing him a little bottle of pre-confession/interview/press conference eye drops. Either the guy doesn't have any friends left, or they have discovered, like us, that traditional over-the-counter (OTC) drops may not be as great for eyes as we think.
Savvy Product Bucket List: Somme Scores!

Bungee jumping, sky diving, hang gliding, climbing Machu Picchu, visiting Rio, Thailand, Africa, the Great Wall of China, the Pyramids, the Himalayas, Taj Mahal, retiring to an art studio overlooking the ocean and finding products that I know will serve me well so I never have to waste time or money looking for them again...this is just part of my bucket list.
1 Savvy Product, 3 Solutions: Vaseline

When we set out to do this 3-Uses-in-1 regular feature, little did we know that many of the products we wanted to feature pre-date World War I and in this case, the Civil War. Guess that should teach us something about simplicity and using what you have, no?
For our savvy history buffs: Vaseline's life began in 1859, when an amateur chemist discovered that the same substance that loosened up oil rigs also worked wonders on workers' cuts and burns (so savvy!). Vaseline Petroleum Jelly was born and within 10 years, found its way into nearly every American medicine chest from Chattanooga to the Mississippi Delta. There are no shortages of things you can do with VPJ, but we found its myriad uses more powerful when combined with something else, Wonder-Twin Power-Style.
H2-Oh How Delicious Those 8 Glasses Can Be!

If you're the savvy girl who finds water too bland for your refined tastes, chugging down the recommended 8 glasses a day can be a bitter bev to swallow. First question: Do we really need those 8 glasses? The Mayo Clinic says yes.
Water makes up 60% of your body weight and every system in your body depends on it to flush, cleanse and act as a superhighway to get healthy stuff from one place to another. The clinic's recommendation is to replace what you sweat, breathe or urinate out (love those refreshing terms!) which amounts to about 2 liters a day, but can vary due to your activity level.
