DIY Spa first rule of thumb: Setting the right mood is more than half the experience. Turn off the TV, turn on some soothing music (we like Pandora's Gregorian Chant station) and light some scented candles. You'll be immediately transported.
Hot Stone Foot Treatment in the Crock
Take a handful of smooth stones (you can build up a collection of natural stones or buy your own basalt massage stones), wrap them in a towel and warm them in your crock pot on high for 15-20 minutes. The size of the stones depends heavily on heating time, so check carefully before testing on skin. Place stones in between your toes (see 2nd photo), sit back, and relax.
Rose Petal Bath
Gently pull the petals off a rose or two and scatter in a warm bath. Be sure to light candles because this is a scene to arouse all your senses.
Warm Cuticle Treatment
Put enough lotion in a shallow bowl to cover your fingertips and heat in the microwave for 15 seconds. Dip your tips in the bowl and after five minutes or so, rub the lotion into your cuticles for true decadence.
Eucalyptus Shower Steam
Place a few drops of Eucalyptus oil in the corner of your shower and turn on the heat. The steam will activate the oil creating a sauna-like atmosphere you've probably experienced at the gym or a spa.
Sugar Body Scrub
We like to do this with the shower steam so we can enjoy the scent of eucalyptus while we scrub. Make a body scrub with 1/2 cup of brown sugar, 1/2 of a fresh squeezed lemon and 1 tablespoon of Vitamin E oil. Mix ingredients and scrub away.
