We're loving the bold, pretty lip trend for fall. Not only does it give an unexpected punch to our tame, autumnal tweeds, it's a super-easy look to replicate because after you've got your pristine pout down pat, there's not much else to do.

It's just like what makeup artist Taylor Chang-Babaian said in our latest episode on Savvy TV about balance--you can go smokey eye/nude lip or bold lip/nude eye, but Savvy Friends, unless you want to leave the house looking like you're dressed for a whirl on the back of Andrew McCarthy's motorbike like Kim Cattrall in Mannequin, you can't do both.

Savvy Tips For Getting a Beautiful Bold Lip Look:

Flawless Face: To really make this look work, it's important to start with a clean "canvas" and a lightweight foundation. Taylor's tip: Apply foundation with a damp brush in a downward motion. It follows the direction of your hair growth and creates a smooth look.

Subtly Soft Eyes: Blend a tiny bit of foundation over eyelids to minimize appearance of redness or veins. Follow up with soft, matte neutral hues like Revlon Custom Eyes Shadow Palette in Sweet Innocence ($7.19 at drugstore.com) and a quick sweep of mascara. Taylor's tip: Apply lighter colors where you want to open up the eyes, darker colors where you want to draw eyes out.
