That last goal may seem silly, but I've tried too many disappointing skin and hair care products (ranging from drugstore to luxury brands) that frustrated me more than slow-walking tourists holding hands in the fast lane (if you're a New Yorker, you know what I mean). See, I'm not one of those gals that likes buying tons of products, and I can't stand overflowing corners in my shower or jammed-up bathroom drawers.
I'm entering a new decade/life phase and my skin was taking on a ruddy, tired took. My face felt tight and dry no matter what moisturizer I applied. I struck gold when savvy blogger and financial professional Nancy Curtin told me about an "amazing and impressive" skin care line. She introduced me to Edward from Somme Institute (last month's Savvy Splurge gift) who promptly sent me a package promising that "results speak louder than words". I thought, I've heard THAT before. Well, I tried it the first night: washed my face with the cleanser and then followed up with the exfoliant pad, serum and moisturizer (I also use the eye cream). These products have some sort of vitamin delivery system called MDT5 which I guess is pretty special. I'm not kidding when I say the next morning my skin was soft, smooth and dewy. Savvy Girl Carrie actually told me I looked dewy--yeah, she's that kind of friend ;)
I've been using the Somme regimen twice a day for a month now and continue to get compliments on my skin...even better, I have more confidence in the way I look without makeup and have noticed that most of the spots and tiny lines are gone. One savvy tip: I cut the exfoliating Transport pads in half to make them last longer (there are only 50 in the container and the other products outlast them). Although the line is expensive, I will continue to use it because frankly, it's worth it.
I'm excited to say I also put Neutrogena Lip Plumping Treatment and L'Oreal Paris Voluminous Mascara in my bucket. I'm pretty much set and my bathroom's a lot neater too!
Now...on to Rio!
