Savvy Mani Splurge: Genius Gels

I did not think it could possibly happen. I am unbelievably rough on my hands. I will literally exit the nail salon and immediately knick my newly polished hands. I always say I will be more gentle… but alas… never fails… they break/chip/knick. I have tried silkwraps, acrylics, nail hardeners, quickdrys… everything: most ended up leaving my natural nails brittle or didn't work at all.

Enter GELish Nails. I cannot believe that these things actually work. I am on my second round.  The first one lasted over 3 weeks without a chip and remained super shiny.

GELlish is a gel treatment that is applied similar to nail polish. After the application, GELish is cured & dried under a UV lamp. The polish is dried as soon as your manicure is finished – no need to worry  about ruining your nails on the way out of the salon. It is applied over your own nails, so it shouldn't be as hard on your nails as artificial gel nails/acrylics, etc…

SERIOUSLY… GO GET A GEL MANICURE!  You will LOVE IT. My nails are stronger and  shinier than ever.

TIPS:

Try to find a place that has a good selection of colors to choose from. My guess is that most salons will be carrying GEL-ish within the year. (PS. GELish is a reliable brand… I did a search to make sure the salon I chose carried them specifically.)

People might have a problem that the salon has to remove the polish… it gets soaked off. But it’s a perfect opportunity to relax and get another mani!

It's easiest if you get a lighter polish, that way as it grows out you don’t notice the cuticle/nail bed space from the polish.

DO. IT.

Product Particulars: Gelish is available in 72 savvy hues and gel manis run anywhere from $25-30 with a nominal fee for the soak-off at your second appointment.  Check this link to find a salon near you.
