Savvy Wellness: Start a Movement

As the holidays and New Year approach, instead of creating a list of goals that you may (or may not) follow through on, I want to encourage you instead to change the way you think about healthy living.

Often the New Year begins with goals to lose weight, eat better, refrain from excessive drinking, and hit the gym more, all in an attempt to start afresh with a healthier mindset. After reading a recent article by a well known New York advertising agency, Strawberry Frog, I was inspired to look at healthy living differently, and start a movement of my own, towards wellness.

For me, optimal health depends on your lifestyle choice, not a decision to follow fitness fads and add or eliminate certain things from your diet or routine. People often ask me how I maintain a high level of fitness while balancing a successful chiropractic office and family. The answer is simple: I choose to move towards wellness. I make conscious decisions everyday that propel my mind and body to feel and look as good as possible. The weight loss industry is a billion dollar entity which often uses statistics and numbers, for better weight management, making you think if you add this and subtract that you will be successful. Instead of constantly managing your health, how much easier would it be to lead yourself to make simple and easy choices. Is starting a movement that simple?

I am extremely passionate about my health because I want to remain an inspiration for my patients who often neglect the basic necessity of eating well and being fitness orientated. If you really understood the nature of healthy living, you wouldn’t need resolutions or calculations, just simply a strong desire to make your body a higher priority than it is right now.

Beginning today, get back to the basics. Start a movement towards wellness. Get passionate again, or for the first time. Make the choice to move towards a healthier lifestyle.
