Stylist Savvy: How to Pull Off Lace Leggings

Lace leggings are a definite risky bet but if you know when to hold 'em, fold 'em, walk away and run like Kenny Rogers advises in The Gambler, you can pull them off with panache like the savvy, sexy star you are.  It's all about confidence and proper pairing.

We love leggings because they're a) inexpensive, b) the perfect transitional piece between seasons, and c) a savvy way to wake up underutilized closet staples.

How to Wear Lace Leggings Without Looking Like an 80s Reject

  • Up Top: Pair leggings with a fluid top, tunic or mini-dress
  • Down Below: Ankle boots are the ideal solid base for flimsy lace
  • Layer Up: If it's chilly, finish off the look with a structured, cropped jacket, such as a leather motorcycle version.  Romantic-grunge swoon!
  • Color-Wise: Keep your palette within similar hues, grey, black, etc.  No white lace with black minis allowed!
  • Print-Smart: Bold lace patterns work better on smaller ladies, smaller lace patterns work better on larger ladies.  Simple as that!
