Hot Toddy Time

Hot Toddy Time

It seems like even as it gets warmer outside, sickness finds a way to creep in. In addition to rest, vitamins and cough syrup, I have found that one of the best remedies for the common cold is a hot toddy! Here is my favorite recipe, lightly adapted from this one from Nigel Slater.

1 tsp Honey
1 Measure Whiskey, Rum or Bourbon

Cloves
Cinnamon Stick
Lemon Juice
OR
A pack of NeoCitran

Put your honey and whiskey in a mug or heatproof glass. Add two cloves and half a cinnamon stick then top up with just boiled water. Squeeze in fresh lemon juice to balance the sweetness of the honey.

Drink it as soon as it doesn't burn your lips. Then wrap yourself in blankets and take a nap.
