Four Easy Steps to Getting the Perfect Mani at Home
Pretty, well-shaped nails can make you look just so...polished. It's fine to splurge every once in awhile on a pro mani to get the shaping down just right, but for the rest of the time, you can get the same results, right at home.
The Perfect At Home Manicure
Step 1: The most important step in the polishing process is to wipe the nail plate clean before painting.
Step 2: After filing and moisturizing, any residue left on the nail will prevent the polish from adhering properly, so it’s important to swipe the nail clean with polish remover (we prefer acetone FREE) just before painting.
Step 3: Now, are you ready for this?...skip the base coat. That’s right, just forget it. Of course, if it means that much to you then go right ahead and use it, but we trust that less is more. The color applied directly to a clean nail will last just as long.
Step 4: Add two coats of nail lacquer and a top coat of your choice, which will leave you with lovely lacquered fingertips!
Savvy Scoop: A great way to extend your mani and give your nails a clean slate before polishing is to do a water/vinegar soak before you polish. Soak fingertips in 1/2 cup of warm water mixed with 2 teaspoons of white vinegar for one minute. Rinse, dry and you're on to Step 2.
