All Nominees

I want to nominate Megan for a makeover. Megan has the patience of a saint, the beauty of a goddess,  and is just a great all around person.  She is in college now and could use a trip to the day spa just because.  paying tuition, rent, insurance all on her own, going to school FT while working FT I know is mentally and physically exhausting and a day off would sure...

Hi Anna-

I want to nominate you for a makeover - of your living room.  Sounds cold but since your house burned dwon last year I know you have been wanting to makeover your apartment. Anna is always ready to lend a helping hand, even when the firefighters were there she was trying to figure out how to get them cold water to drink.  Always a giver!!!

Hey girl!!! I am nominating you for a makeover cause you have helped me with my hair too many times! and you were the only one who was brave enough to tell me I was putting on my blush like a clown! (pre my cataract surgeries) thanks for all!

I have known Karla for years.  she works with special Olympics, volunteers at her son's school, keeps a meanly clean house and just needs something a little special to remind her how special she is.

I want to nominate my best friend Joy. she taught me to cook, she is one of the few my teen age daughter really listens carefully to, and has just been there for me forever!

I want to nominate my mom, Lorri for a makeover. It's not that she needs one, she deserves one! A breast cancer survivor mom always looks snazzy and savvy when she walks out the door.

I have been fortunate to have blessed with a mom who was there for me, and my kids as I went through an icky divorce.  She and my dad gave a "safe space" to heal and get my life together....

It seems weird now, but I used to babysit Frank a long time ago, and now today we're peers.  If you would have asked me to nominate Frank 15 years ago I would have said no way, that little snot nose?  But as we all know, time passes, people grow up and come into their own.

Gibbs.  It's all in the name.  What a loving whirlwind of a guy.  Gibbs runs an umbrella corp. that helps out several non-profits around a tri-state area and I know that job while rewarding can be quite a handful.  He has to oversee all the non-profits under his corp. and each and every volunteer with each of those organizations.  Yet he is always such a hoot, full of...

Gavin is one of those special friends from school here in Belfast that I was never able to forget through the years and I'm so glad to have seen him once again.  We formed an immediate bond the day we met and agreed we had the strongest, best of (plutonic) loves for one another.  I'm sure to some he's a bit square or a quirk, but to me that's just endearing.  He's a...

Yet another friend from school here in Belfast, Philip and I have always appreciated each other, yet weren't as close as to each other as we were to our other school mates.  He was always kind and funny and hard working, but I've recently come in touch with Phil again since my return and I couldn't be more proud of the man he's become.

He is now working more than full...

Have I told you about my friend Sinead or can you hear her calling from the rugby field?!  This girl is out there amazing.  I've never seen a girl play as rough as Sinead can get and she certainly knows how to bring home the win for her team.  Sinead and I met in college here in Belfast, and upon first meeting or maybe even several, she was quiet, calm and well, you...

Emily is an old chum from college who I haven't seen in person in many years, but with whom I still manage to stay in touch with.  Emily started her career in marketing right out of college and since then this girl has been on the go!  Anytime I speak with her she's always taking on a new project, for what seems like an increasingly bigger company each time.  What a real...

My cousin Amber has always been a fun and caring girl, sensitive to the goings-on around her.  That's why it is so sad to think of the trouble she's been through in her life, but I'm proud to say against all odds of what anyone gave her credit for she pushed past the ghosts of yesterday and moved on with her life and is doing well.  I would say she has never felt she quite fits in,...

This nomination is for my pal and former boss/co-worker Joe.  Joe was a good pal of mine through another friend and when I decided I wanted to learn about development in a non-profit Joe took me under his wing and helped me learn through volunteering, then initiated a program with the non-prof in my town so I could do Americorps VISTA from them, and though Joe had moved by...

Steve (and his wife Bettie) have been friends of my in-laws for quite a number of years, and it is through them I was fortunate enough to meet them both.  Steve is one of the friendliest, most comfortable people to be around.  I always enjoy seeing him about and even more I love getting to see the work he's doing.

I couldn't forget about my great friend Gemma who I'm going to miss so much!  She has got to be the most beautiful person I know, and I'm not talking about makeup and clothes, though she is all that!  When I think of Gemma, I think of strength and honesty, all that's good in the world and a little laughter all the way through.  Gemma is a few years younger than myself...

A big shout out to my girlfriend Zoe, who I met here in the UK.  What a wild, wacky and wonderful girl!  She is the image of youth and energy and those of us who know her are lucky enough that she managed to spread a little of that to each of those she's in contact with.  I love Zoe because no matter what the dreary weather is like or whatever concerns we may have, she...

This nomination goes out to my favorite aunt Brenda.  She didn't have much growing up but made the most of it.  After a few bad eggs, she found the love of her life, my uncle Mike and they are still happy together after more than 25 years.  She raised three wonderful children through rough and tight times and now has a couple of beautiful grandchildren to show off for it....

This is for my best friend from high school (and still is) Taryn.  We both had our children at a relatively young age, her first was right out of college and yet she still made her way through and made a great career and life for herself.  She doesn't understand the meaning of the words - quit, can't or fail.  She also recently had her second child almost two years ago now and...

I'm so proud of my sister-in-law Gillian that I just had to nominate her.  Her and her husband tried for years to have a baby and just when they thought they wouldn't be able to, she got pregnant.  Their son Ross is now a year old and thriving.  Gillian really took to motherhood and there is nothing more she wants to do in the world then be a good mother to her child(ren)....

This is for my brother-in-law's brother, Ashby. He's a sweet and quiet guy who cares a lot about his family. He hasn't always had the support he deserves, but he's still managed to make it on his own, and on his terms. He's an animal lover, I can't tell you how many animals he's taken into his home through the years and fostered until a better chance came along for them. I believe that's...

Patrick is one of those guys who would rather spend his time living life than reading about it in books.  Not a day goes by he isn't out either taking part in a sporting activity or socializing with friends and co-workers.  He is certainly one of the savviest guys I know from all angles.  I think he's a brilliant guy who puts some bright shine into this world, but can't...

Mary is actually a friend of my sister's who went to school with her, so being the younger sister I've always clung onto my sister and her friends.  Though it was always quite annoying to my sister, Marcy was always sweet to me and now as adults we're good friends as well.  Mary has moved from our hometown but visits as often as her job and children allow.

Ellen is a young woman who works in the church mission my father-in-law is associated with.  I love going down to the mission with my father-in-law and always being able to count on seeing Ellen's smiling face, it really brightens up a room. Hers is the face that visitors first see upon arrival and the last upon leaving.  She always has a kind comforting word for anyone who needs it...

Fred is only a few years older than me, but he is so wise and together that he is like a father figure.  Fred works in one of the local churches in our hometown as an assistant to the minister, but to tell the truth anytime I'm feeling down or am looking for advice I always turn to Fred and he's always there with something meaningful for me.  The same goes for just about anyone...

My little cousin Cherokee is all grown up!  She recently graduated high school and has started college and is studying to be a nurse.  I've always been fond of nurses, they do so much good for their patients, physically and emotionally.  Cherokee certainly has the potential to be one of the best because she's sweet and caring as well as intelligent.  She's putting herself...

I met Janet while working for a non-profit in the US.  She was the lady you saw around town doing several tasks at once for at least three or four other non-profits or community centres.  How she finds time for all that she does I'll never know, but can't imagine that leaves much time for herself.  A really lovely lady who's always giving of herself, she could really use a...

Here's to Neil, that funny guy I met in college and never could forget.  We lost touch for a few years but have recently rediscovered each other through the wonderous Facebook and I couldn't be more happy to see how well he's gotten along.  He always was a bit down on himself, and yet was always such an amazing guy that could make you laugh every day.  So that's why I'...

I met Adam the year I also met my husband here in Belfast because he is one of this closest friends.  In fact, Adam is the one friend my husband would always count on through thick and thin.  He's a funny soul with the urge to roam and wonder, but he always returns home and always remembers his real friends.  Without Adam here this year I don't think my husband would...
