A New Yorker through and through Betsy now lives in Santa Fe, NM with her husband and her kids. They chose to move to SF to lead a quieter lifestyle while their kids are young. Betsy's heart is with her kids and her pets. She is on the Board of a local animal shelter, Espanola Valley Humane Society (www.evalleyshelter.org). She helps raise money through events. Betsy says about her role at the animal shelter, "It’s a heart wrenching reality of life; these innocent creatures who cannot speak for themselves have their destinies decided for them by cruel and irresponsible people and it's my duty to save as many of them as I can. I like animals more than people!” Despite that fact, she is great with people too. She and her husband are solid benefactors of all that makes Santa Fe great. They are heavily involved in local charities and raise money through her husband's practice, Daniel Ronel MD, (www.danielronelmd.com) during Vanity for Charity months in which all proceeds from Dr. Ronel's injectable clinics go to a local charity of their choice. Betsy notes, "Vanity for Charity is great way to bring awareness to a particular cause and validate it by giving a good chunk of money to it." Betsy is moved daily by Santa Fe; she finds it spiritual as well as a great social equalizer, "It's one of the most special places on earth—the true natives and the respect they have for their history is unique. This and nature's miracles in the landscape give me a new perspective on life."
