Turmeric Takeover

Turmeric Takeover

We’ve recently noticed that there is a popular new “super food” making its rounds on social media. It’s bright, it’s colorful, and its name is turmeric. Why is turmeric taking over TikTok (and other social media)? We’ve rounded up the top reasons why hopping on this trend is a savvy idea.

It is loaded with bio-active compounds

Bio-active compounds found in turmeric, such as curcumin, can help reduce the impact of oxidation, a process that can lead to inflammation, heart disease, type 2 diabetes and cancer.

May help reduce symptoms of arthritis

As explained above, the bio-active compounds found in turmeric can help decrease inflammation in the body. Since arthritis is swelling of the joints, turmeric may help ease the discomfort that is associated with this swelling.

Increases brain function

Turmerone is another active ingredient found in this super food. It helps promote cell repair, and therefore may be useful in supporting cognitive functions.

Supports the immune system

According to an article by BBC Good Food, “curcumin may act as an immune modulator influencing important immune cells including T cells, B cells and Natural Killer cells.” This means that it may enhance our bodies’ antibody responses and prevent us from getting ill.

We love this recipe for a turmeric latte as a way to get our turmeric benefits. If you are not a fan of the taste though, you can also get the benefits in pill form. We Nature’s Nutrition Turmeric and Ginger capsules.
