For Love of Labor Day

For Love of Labor Day

It’s Labor Day, and we can’t think of anything that screams of the holiday more than a picnic. However, we want to show off our savvy culinary skills this year (we have spent a lot more time in the kitchen last year, after all). So we are sharing with you some new twists on picnic classics that are sure to impress!

Potato Salad

We’re obsessed with this Grilled Potato Salad recipe. Not only do you not have to spend prime picnicking time peeling potatoes, but it does not require the standard mayo addition, so it is healthier!

Watermelon

In our latest post Happy Hour But Make It Mock, we shared reasons why we are totally on board the mocktail trend, and we’re bringing it to our Labor Day with this Watermelon Cooler mocktail recipe. It’s a refreshing beverage that all attendees can enjoy and it adds a little flair to the traditional watermelon slices usually found at picnics.

Deviled Eggs (our personal favorite)

We LOVE deviled eggs over here at 24 Savvy. Another thing we love - asian inspired flavors. Combine the two and we have perfection, people. This recipe for Miso Ramen Deviled Eggs will not only knock picnic-goers’ socks off with flavor, they are also visually captivating.

Fried Chicken

This is such a classic it is almost intimidating to try and add a twist. However, you’d be surprised how small changes can elevate this picnic favorite, like adding a new spice to the mix. We like this Curry Fried Chicken recipe by Food and Wine.

Finger Sandwiches

Also known as tea sandwiches, these finger-food favorites are a staple at any picnic. They are very versatile with so many different preparation options. We like ours with a little sweetness and tang and these Chicken-Mandarin Orange Spread Sandwiches provide just that. They will surely fly off of the platter!

We hope everyone has a safe and happy Labor Day. Happy picnicking!
