Travel Savvy This Summer

Travel Savvy This Summer

With travel restrictions lifting across the globe, the world is opening up to travel once again. After two years of lockdowns, people are more eager than ever before to leave their homes and go somewhere. With this new sense of urgency to get back out there, travelers are ready to attend life events, see their favorite sites, visit friends and family, and just have those awesome experiences!

So here is the question: After a long time out of the game, how do you travel savvy? I mean, obviously it’s been awhile so it’s pretty easy to forget certain things when it comes to savvy travel. Luckily, I am here with some amazing sustainable travel products that will help you become a savvy traveler in no time!

I love my reusable, microfiber towel and it comes in handy way more often than not. The amazing thing about microfiber towels is that they are extremely absorbent, they are the definition of reusable, and they dry SO quickly. And if you ever need to wash it, you can simply do so by hand in the sink! Simply soak it, agitate it by hand, let it soak for 15-20 mins, agitate it again, rinse it thoroughly, and then hang it to dry. In a couple hours your towel will be clean and ready to use again!

I really can’t speak highly enough about filtered water bottles. When I was traveling in Greece last year, it’s generally accepted that tap water in the islands is not safe to drink. So while all my friends were constantly buying at least one plastic liter bottle a day, I was simply able to use my filtered water bottle with the tap. I saved more money and produced less waste. It tasted perfectly fine and I had no health issues whatsoever over my two week trip!

When traveling, it’s only natural for us to want to shop or, if you’re like me, maybe you prefer to cook your own meals, meaning you’ll be needing to visit the market or grocery store. Well, instead of accepting your goods in plastic bags, opt for these compact reusable shopping bags! They weigh nothing, easily fold up into these little pouches, and are so simple to pack.

Before I found these reusable plastic bags, I would use a sandwich bag to put my razors in, or for things I’d use in the shower, or jewelry, or safety pins. Honestly too many things that can be put in other, reusable containers. Well if you are still committed to light weight, clear, waterproof baggies then I urge you to try these reusable bags. Save money on constantly buying plastic bags and help the environment. It’s a win-win!

Okay, who hasn’t been on a long trip somewhere and thought to themselves, “I could really get some better sleep if I had a pillow or something comfy to lay on”. Worry not because here is an amazing travel pillow AND blanket. What I love about this set is that the blanket fits inside the pillow (which is great for me because I tend to get coooold). So when I use the set, I’ll usually stuff an extra jacket or pieces of clothing in the pillow, cover myself with the blanket and fall right asleep.

Bonus hack! You can put some of your extra belongings inside the pillow if you don’t typically use a blanket. Put extra clothes, toiletries, or any other items in the pillowcase so it doesn't take up room in your suitcase!

Even with all these savvy travel items, the thing that is going to make you the ultimate savvy traveler is the experience of traveling. So what are you waiting for? Get your savvy on, and get out there and see the world!
